About PastorBookshelf.com

Our Goal

An effective pastor is an informed pastor; he must be aware of what’s going on in the Christian world. Keeping up with the most recent books is one of the best ways to do this. But what busy pastor has the time to thumb through the thousands of new books being released each year? You may not, but we do!

Our goal is to provide you with concise yet helpful summaries of the most important of these books so you can stay aware of the latest trends, strengthen your walk with God, revitalize your preaching and teaching, and mobilize your church to greater outreach. These summaries help you stay informed about what’s being written and quickly decide which books to read.

Our Choice of Content

There is potential for confusion regarding the content we feature. You may be inclined to think that because we feature content we also endorse it. This is not the case. We choose content for a variety of reasons, and it falls into three basic categories: (1) excellent material that we would strongly endorse, (2) mixed content (some good, some bad) that we would not fully endorse, and (3) largely poor content that we would not endorse—but is important for you to know about and be able to respond to.

God calls us to be men of discernment (Heb 5:14). These words from Paul are vital for our day: "Test everything. Hold on to the good. Avoid every kind of evil" (1 Thes 5:21-22).
